I came to the realization today that Christmas is but a mere 2 weeks from today. It's not the holiday itself that worries me, but the crowds. I recently not only got my foot ran over by a shopping cart driven by a Dora-crazed woman, but I also had to elbow an elderly woman out of my way as I reached for a package of toilet paper. I think people should be more like Charmin Ultra at the holidays - soft, gentle and less of them.
I keep thinking how difficult it has been just to get necessities, and the thought of actually SHOPPING makes my stomach turn eight shades of green. I could be at Wal-Mart for 9 hours, picking-up and putting-back the same 4 gifts over and over again because I'm caught in the "Should I get them a nice gift even though they got me toenail scissors last year?" dilemma. Being the sucker that I am, I always end up spending more money than I should on more people than I should. Heck, I even bought my boss something. I should have just re-gifted the toenail scissors...
I contemplated some really unique artsy trinkets as gifts this year, but perhaps I may just get out my crayons and play the "It's the thought that counts" card. Besides, who even knows where this junk ends up a year from now anyway?
